If you want to buy one of the new RTX Spark laptops, preorders are open now, and prices start at $2,599.99. Most models ship on October 16, 2026, though a couple of HP listings point to a later date.
Microsoft showed the chip at its October 7 Windows and Surface event, and other brands launched their own machines the same day. Here is what each one costs and who should buy what.
Quick facts before the details:
- Prices start at $2,599.99 (Surface Laptop Ultra and ASUS ProArt P14) and climb to $3,799.99 (Dell XPS 16).
- Most listings ship on October 16, 2026; HP.com listings show November 4.
- The chip pairs an Nvidia N1X CPU with an RTX GPU and shares up to 128GB of memory.
- All of them run Windows 11, not Windows 12.
That list is the short version. The rest of this post helps you pick between the eight models.
What is RTX Spark, and why does it matter?
RTX Spark is Nvidia’s new chip platform for Windows laptops. It puts a CPU and an RTX graphics chip together and lets them share one big pool of memory. Microsoft says the top Surface version reaches up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, according to BGR’s live coverage of the event.
Why care? Shared memory means you can run large AI models on the laptop itself instead of sending everything to the cloud. Microsoft also said DeepSeek V4 Flash can run locally within 60GB of memory, so the 64GB and 128GB configurations are the interesting ones for AI work.
There are two chip tiers. Per Tom’s Hardware, the lower tier has 18 CPU cores and 5,120 GPU cores and shows up on 24GB and 32GB models. The full 20-core CPU and 6,144-core GPU appear on 48GB and larger configurations.
All the RTX Spark laptops you can preorder
This table lists starting prices pulled from Windows Central and Tom’s Hardware. Your configuration may cost more.
| Laptop | Screen | Starting price | Notable specs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface Laptop Ultra | 15″ | $2,599.99 | 24GB / 512GB (up to 128GB) |
| ASUS ProArt P14 | 14″ | $2,599.99 | 24GB / 512GB |
| ASUS ProArt P16 | 16″ | $2,799.99 | Up to 128GB / 2TB |
| HP OmniBook X 14 | 14″ | $2,999.99 | 3K OLED, up to 128GB |
| Lenovo Yoga 9n 2-in-1 | 16″ | $3,099.99 | 32GB / 1TB, convertible |
| HP OmniBook Ultra 16 | 16″ | $3,199.99 | 3K OLED, 32GB / 1TB |
| MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+ | 16″ class convertible | $3,299.99 | Tandem OLED |
| Dell XPS 16 | 16″ | $3,799.99 | 32GB / 512GB, 3.2K OLED |
Prices and specs vary a little between retailers. The ASUS ProArt P16, for example, jumps well above its starting price once you add 64GB or more of memory. Check the exact configuration before you pay.
Where to buy and when it ships
Best Buy is the main store for the October 16 batch. Dell and Lenovo have no direct preorders yet, so Best Buy is your only route for the XPS 16 and Yoga 9n, according to Tom’s Hardware.
HP sells through its own site, where Windows Central shows a November 4 ship date. The MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+ is listed at $3,299.99 on Newegg.
Higher-memory versions seem to be Microsoft- and ASUS-direct only for now. If you want 64GB or 128GB, expect to buy from the maker.
Which RTX Spark laptop should you pick?
Think about what you will actually do with it. A few quick matches:
- Lightest and cheapest: the 14-inch ASUS ProArt P14 at $2,599.99.
- Microsoft’s own option: the Surface Laptop Ultra, which we covered in our Surface Laptop Ultra price guide.
- Tablet-style use: the Lenovo Yoga 9n or MSI Prestige N16 Flip, both convertibles.
- Best screen: the Dell XPS 16 with its 3.2K OLED panel, at the highest price.
These picks are about fit, not benchmarks. Independent reviews have not landed yet, so battery life and fan noise are still unknown.
Want a desktop-style option? Microsoft also announced a box for developers, covered in our Surface RTX Spark Dev Box post.
Should you preorder or wait for reviews?
Waiting is the safer move. These are first-generation machines with a new chip, and Windows on a new architecture can have rough edges with older apps and drivers.
That said, preorders usually carry return windows. If you need strong local AI performance for work this year, ordering now and testing it during the return period is a reasonable plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do RTX Spark laptops cost?
They start at $2,599.99 for the Surface Laptop Ultra and ASUS ProArt P14. The Dell XPS 16 starts at $3,799.99, and maxed-out memory options cost much more.
When do RTX Spark laptops ship?
Most Best Buy and Microsoft listings ship on October 16, 2026. HP.com listings show November 4, so check the store page.
Do RTX Spark laptops run Windows 12?
No. Microsoft did not announce Windows 12 at the event. These laptops ship with Windows 11.
How much memory can an RTX Spark laptop have?
Up to 128GB of unified memory, but only some models offer it. Base models mostly come with 24GB or 32GB.
My take: the ASUS ProArt P14 is the sensible pick at the lowest price, and the 64GB models are the real point of this chip for anyone running local AI. If you just browse, edit documents and watch video, you do not need any of these. Wait for the first reviews, then decide.
