ChatGPT Slides lets you build a slide deck inside ChatGPT and edit it live with teammates. OpenAI is rolling it out now to Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts that have Space access, so free and Plus users are out for the moment.
Decks are fully editable, and you can export them to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides from the web app.
Here are the facts worth knowing before you go looking for it:
- Available on Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access, per OpenAI’s help page.
- Still rolling out, so eligible accounts may not see it yet.
- Web export formats: .pptx, PDF, and Google Slides.
- Comment-only access is not available at launch.
If your account is eligible but the option is missing, give it a few days before you file a support ticket.
How ChatGPT Slides builds a deck for you
You can start two ways. In a normal chat, describe the topic, the audience, and what the deck should say. You can attach source files too, and ChatGPT builds an editable deck you open in Space.
Or open Space and pick Create, then Slide. You can start blank or choose a template.
Templates are the clever part. Share an example deck and ChatGPT copies its style and layout. Teams can also build custom templates with template-creator and share them through team plugins, which helps if your company has a strict brand look.
Editing slides yourself or with ChatGPT
Nothing is locked in. You can change text, images, shapes, tables, and charts by hand, like any slide editor.
To change one element with AI, select it, choose Request edits, and say what you want. For deck-wide changes, like a shorter ending or a new tone, use the prompt bar instead.
That split is useful. Small tweaks stay local, and you only spend a prompt when the change is bigger.
Real-time co-editing and comments
Anyone with edit access can work in the same deck at the same time. Comments support @mentions, and you can mention a teammate or ChatGPT to ask for an edit right from the thread.
One gap matters for review workflows. Comment-only access is not available at launch, so a reviewer who can comment can also edit. Plan your sharing with that in mind.
If you already use Space for documents, this will feel familiar. We covered how that works in our guide to ChatGPT Space and Pages.
Exporting a ChatGPT Slides deck
You can present straight from ChatGPT. On the web, you can also export the deck, and the table below shows what each option is for.
| Option | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| PowerPoint (.pptx) | An editable file you can open offline | Sending to people who use Office |
| A fixed copy | Sharing a final version | |
| Google Slides | An editable Google deck | Teams that live in Google Workspace |
| Open in PowerPoint or Keynote | Opens the deck in the installed app | Final polish on your own computer |
The export menu is a web feature. Use the web app if you need a file out.
Windows limits for ChatGPT Slides
Windows is where it gets messy. On some Windows devices, the desktop app needs a component called MXC to create collaborative Slides. Without it, local AI slide work falls back to plain .pptx files.
Windows 10 does not support that component. Windows 11 users may need an update, or their IT team may need to turn it on. If that is you, use ChatGPT on the web or cloud mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ChatGPT Slides free?
No. OpenAI lists it for Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access. Other plans are not supported yet.
Can I export ChatGPT Slides to PowerPoint?
Yes. On the web you can export to .pptx, PDF, or Google Slides. You can also open the deck in PowerPoint or Keynote if either is installed.
Why can’t I see ChatGPT Slides yet?
The rollout is still in progress, so eligible accounts may not have it yet. Check that your plan includes Space access, then try again in a few days.
Can people only comment on my deck?
Not at launch. Comment-only access is unavailable, so anyone you give access to can edit.
Should you switch your slide workflow?
If you are already on a paid ChatGPT team plan, try it on your next internal deck. Start from a template, let ChatGPT do the first draft, then export to PowerPoint for final polish. Keep client-facing work in your usual tool until the missing comment-only mode and the rollout gaps are sorted out. For solo users on Plus or Free, there is nothing to do yet except wait.
