The Apple Creator Studio AI assistant is coming to Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Logic Pro in November, and existing subscribers get it free. It’s a beta, it only speaks U.S. English, and it runs on a mix of Apple’s own models and OpenAI’s.
Apple announced the update on October 27, alongside its new M6 Macs. Here’s what it does, what you need, and the catches.
Quick facts before the details:
- Arrives in November 2026 as a free App Store update for current subscribers; Apple hasn’t given an exact day.
- New subscribers pay $12.99 a month or $129 a year in the U.S., with a one-month free trial.
- The assistants are in beta and support U.S. English only.
- The Keynote, Pages and Numbers assistants need iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence-capable device.
- MCP support for outside AI agents is limited to macOS 27 or later.
If you only have time for one line: the assistants look useful, but wait for the beta to prove itself before you rely on it for real work.
What the Apple Creator Studio AI assistant does in each app
Each app gets its own assistant that understands the document you have open. It isn’t a generic chatbot parked in a side panel, at least according to Apple’s description.
Pages helps you draft, restructure and fine-tune text. Keynote helps you design, animate and refine slides. Numbers handles calculations, organizes data and suggests chart types with a one-tap preview.
Logic Pro’s assistant works on the music side. Apple says it can start a song, set up a vocal track from one prompt, and refine a project you’re already working on.
If you’ve tried ChatGPT Slides, the idea will feel familiar. The difference is that this lives inside the apps you already use, not in a separate tool.
What you need to run it
The AI features have stricter requirements than the apps themselves. Here’s how they compare.
| App | AI assistant needs | Base app needs |
|---|---|---|
| Keynote, Pages, Numbers | iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27, plus an Apple Intelligence-capable device | macOS 26, iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 |
| Logic Pro (Mac) | macOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence-capable Mac | macOS 26.1 on Apple silicon |
| MCP support | macOS 27 or later (Keynote, Pages, Numbers) | Not available on older versions |
The takeaway: if you’re still on an iOS 26 or macOS 26 release, the apps keep working but you won’t see the assistant. Our guide to macOS Golden Gate 27.2 covers who can install the newer system.
Why the new MCP support matters
MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is a standard that lets AI agents talk to other software. Apple says Keynote, Pages and Numbers will support it on macOS 27, so outside agents can read content, make edits and run actions.
In practice, that could let a coding or office agent build a slide deck or tidy a spreadsheet without you clicking through menus. It’s part of a wider industry push, which we covered in our post on the Agentic AI Foundation’s new projects.
One caution: the reporting we found says MCP is Mac-only for now. Don’t assume the same access on iPhone or iPad.
The privacy question Apple didn’t answer
Apple says the assistants use a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI. The announcement doesn’t say which tasks go to which model, or how your document data is handled.
That matters if you work on contracts, client decks or unreleased financials. Until Apple publishes details, treat sensitive files with care and check the app’s settings once the beta lands.
Price, trial and the other new tools
The subscription price isn’t changing. Apple lists these U.S. prices.
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Monthly | $12.99 |
| Yearly | $129 |
| College students and educators | $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year |
| Trial | One month free; three months free with a new Mac or qualifying iPad |
Beyond the assistants, the update adds Pixelmator Pro Generate Fill, which edits a selected area from a text description. Final Cut Pro gains 23 new transcription languages and MotionVFX effects, and Logic Pro gets a Liquid Glass redesign plus a Stem Splitter for drums. Freeform’s Pixelmator editing arrives in December.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does the Apple Creator Studio AI assistant launch?
Apple says November 2026 through the App Store. It hasn’t named a specific date yet.
Is the AI assistant free?
Yes for current Creator Studio subscribers, since it’s a free update. New subscribers pay $12.99 a month or $129 a year in the U.S.
Does it work outside the United States or in other languages?
Not at launch. Apple says the assistants are beta and support U.S. English only.
Can I use it on an older Mac?
You’ll need macOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence-capable Mac for Logic Pro. Keynote, Pages and Numbers also accept iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 on a capable device.
Our take: try it, but keep your originals
This is a sensible upgrade for people who already pay for Creator Studio, since it costs nothing extra. Treat the first release as a draft helper, not a finisher, and keep a copy of any file before you let the assistant rewrite it. If you handle private documents, hold off until Apple explains where your data goes. Apple’s own announcement has the full feature list.
