ChatGPT Slides Is Here: Build, Edit and Present Decks Without Leaving ChatGPT

ChatGPT Slides lets you turn a chat, a set of files or a rough outline into an editable deck, then present or export it without leaving ChatGPT. OpenAI began rolling it out on October 16, 2026, but only to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts.

If you have access, the main draw is that teammates can edit the same deck at once. If you don’t, you can still read on and see what you’re waiting for.

Here are the facts worth knowing before you open ChatGPT:

  • Announced: October 16, 2026, in OpenAI’s ChatGPT release notes
  • Who gets it: eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users with Space access
  • Works on the web and in the desktop app
  • Export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides (web only)
  • Comment-only sharing is not available yet

That access limit is the catch. A quick skim of the list tells you whether this post applies to you.

What ChatGPT Slides can actually do

You can start from an existing chat, uploaded files, an outline, or a sample deck that sets the look. ChatGPT turns that material into slides, makes custom images, and helps with text and charts, according to Digital Trends.

Editing works two ways. You can change an element yourself, or ask ChatGPT to do it. Select a text block, image or chart and choose Request edits to change only that piece, or use the prompt bar for deck-wide changes, as TechRepublic describes it.

Teammates with edit access can work in the same deck at the same time and leave shared comments. ChatGPT can then apply that feedback, revise wording and keep slides consistent. That makes ChatGPT presentations feel less like a one-off draft and more like a shared working file.

Who gets ChatGPT Slides right now

OpenAI says the rollout covers eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users who have Space access. Digital Trends is blunt about it: this is “not currently a feature available to every ChatGPT account.”

The table below sums up where things stand, based on the reports above and OpenAI’s release notes.

Plan ChatGPT Slides status
Pro Rolling out to eligible accounts with Space access
Business Rolling out to eligible workspaces with Space access
Enterprise Rolling out to eligible workspaces with Space access
Free and Plus Not named in the rollout

Even on a covered plan, you may not see it on day one. Reports say some eligible accounts will get it later, and managed workspaces depend on admin settings.

How to make your first deck

There are two ways in. Both work from inside ChatGPT:

  1. In ChatGPT Work, ask for a presentation. Say who it’s for, what it should achieve, and attach any source files or point to an existing chat.
  2. Or open Space, choose Create, then Slide, and pick a blank deck or a template.

Giving it an existing deck as a style reference is the quickest way to get slides that look like your team’s, not a generic template.

One tip: treat the first result as a draft. Check every number, chart and source before you present it. Digital Trends specifically warns about business and financial claims.

Exporting ChatGPT Slides, and the Windows catch

You can present straight from ChatGPT with no export. If you need a file, the web version exports to PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF or Google Slides, and exported content stays editable.

In the desktop app, you can open a deck in PowerPoint or Keynote if one is installed. Check exported files for chart and font problems, since TechRepublic advises reviewing layouts, charts and custom fonts after export.

Windows users should read this part twice. According to TechRepublic, Windows 10 does not support the desktop component needed for collaborative Slides, and Windows 11 may need an update or admin enablement. Without it, you fall back to a standard PowerPoint file. Web mode avoids the problem.

Where you work What you get
ChatGPT on the web Present in ChatGPT; export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides
Desktop app with PowerPoint or Keynote Open the deck in that app
Windows 10 Desktop component unsupported; standard PowerPoint file only
Windows 11 May need an update or admin approval first

This is also separate from the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in. That add-in runs as a sidebar inside PowerPoint and supports a wider range of plans.

GPT-6 Pro gets parallel agents in the same update

The same October 16 release notes also upgraded GPT-6 Pro in chat. Eligible Pro users get faster replies, better use of plugins and tools, and several agents that work on different parts of a task in parallel.

You can follow each agent’s progress in the conversation and open a finished task to see its output. For a big deck, that could mean research, charts and writing handled side by side. OpenAI hasn’t said how that ties into Slides, so treat that as a possibility, not a promise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ChatGPT Slides free?

No. It is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts with Space access, and Free and Plus aren’t named in the rollout.

Can I export ChatGPT Slides to PowerPoint?

Yes. On the web you can export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides, and the exported content stays editable. Always check charts and fonts afterward.

Can several people edit a ChatGPT deck at once?

Yes, anyone with edit access can work in the deck at the same time and leave shared comments. Comment-only access isn’t available yet.

Why can’t I see ChatGPT Slides yet?

Your plan, workspace settings or Space access may not qualify yet, or the rollout simply hasn’t reached you. Some eligible accounts will see it later.

Is it worth switching your deck workflow?

If you already pay for a covered plan and spend hours on weekly decks, try it on one low-stakes presentation and compare the time saved. Keep PowerPoint or Google Slides as your safety net until you trust the charts. If you’re on Free or Plus, there’s nothing to rush for, because OpenAI hasn’t named a date for you.
