Motorola Android 17 Update: Which Razr and Edge Phones Get It First

The Motorola Android 17 update is rolling out now, and if you own a recent Razr, Edge or Moto G, your phone is probably on the list. Motorola has confirmed more than 50 eligible models, but the rollout is staged, so it may take weeks to reach you.

Here’s what’s live, who’s still waiting, and how to check your own phone.

  • Motorola confirmed 50+ eligible phones on August 11, 2026.
  • Reported live: Razr Ultra (2026), Motorola Signature, Edge 60 Pro and Edge 60 Fusion.
  • The update is about 4.1GB on the Razr Ultra (2026).
  • Timing varies by region, carrier and model.

Those are the headline facts. The details below show where the gaps are.

Which Motorola phones get the Android 17 update?

According to Android Central, Motorola’s list covers Razr foldables, the Edge line and a long run of Moto G phones. The Edge 2025 was the first to get the stable build, and newer premium phones like the Razr 70 and Edge 70 are expected to get priority.

This table groups the list by family, with rollout status as reported so far.

Phone family Examples on the list Rollout status
Razr foldables Razr Ultra 2026, Razr 70 Ultra, Razr 60, Razr Fold 2026 Razr Ultra 2026 reported live in the US
Motorola Signature Motorola Signature Reported live in the US and India

Edge 60 Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60 Stylus Pro and Fusion reported live in the US
Moto G G Power 2026, G Stylus 2026, G86, G57 No firm dates yet

Rollout status comes from user and press reports, not an official schedule. Treat it as a guide, not a promise.

Who’s already getting it?

As of early October, TechRepublic reported stable builds on the Razr Ultra (2026), Motorola Signature, Edge 60 Fusion and Edge 60 Pro. The Razr Ultra and Edge phones were seen in the US, and the Signature in the US and India.

Motorola says other eligible models will get Android 17 gradually over the coming weeks and months. That means some owners will see it in October, while others may wait until well into the winter.

The India reports for the Edge 60 models come from users. They don’t prove every owner there can download it yet.

Which Motorola phones might miss out?

Android Authority, as cited by TechRepublic, found gaps in Motorola’s list. The Edge 50 series, Edge 60 Neo and Razr 2024 models were missing from it, even though Android Central’s version of the list names a few older phones like the Edge 50 Ultra.

If your phone is in that grey zone, don’t assume it’s cut off. Lists change, and Motorola hasn’t published a full schedule. Check your phone’s support page before you worry.

What’s new in Android 17 on Motorola phones

Motorola’s changelog, as reported by TechRepublic, mixes Google’s Android 17 changes with its own touches. The ones you’ll notice first:

  • Stackable widgets you can swipe through in one home-screen spot.
  • Notification Summaries and Live Updates.
  • An option to hide tile labels in Quick Settings.
  • More control over HDR display intensity.
  • Tap to Share and Quick Drop for sending files to nearby phones.

The Razr Ultra (2026) also gets customizable AI Key shortcuts. Not every feature lands on every model, and some sharing tools may show up a little after you upgrade.

Google’s own release adds App Bubbles, Screen Reactions and one-time location access, per Android Central. Pixel owners saw those first. For a look at what’s still being fixed in the next Android 17 release, see our post on Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 fixes.

How to check for the update and install it safely

Open Settings, go to System, then Software update, and tap check for updates. If nothing shows, your model, carrier or region likely hasn’t been released yet. Waiting is normal.

Before you install a 4GB-plus update, plug in your phone, join Wi-Fi and back up your photos and chats. Free up a few gigabytes of storage too.

If the download stalls, restart the phone and try again on a steadier connection. Don’t interrupt the install once it starts.

Once it’s done, check your security patch level. A major Android upgrade is separate from the monthly patches. Other brands are moving too: see how the OnePlus ColorOS 17 update is shaping up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Motorola phone getting Android 17?

If it’s on Motorola’s list of 50+ models, yes. Most Razr, Edge and recent Moto G phones are included, but a few older ones may not be.

Why don’t I see the Android 17 update yet?

Motorola releases updates in stages by model, region and carrier. Keep checking Settings, and give it a few weeks.

How big is the Motorola Android 17 update?

The Razr Ultra (2026) update is about 4.1GB, according to PhoneArena via TechRepublic. Other phones may differ.

Will Android 17 delete my data?

It shouldn’t, but back up anyway. A backup takes minutes and saves a lot of pain if an install goes wrong.

My take: don’t hunt for the update through risky workarounds. Motorola’s rollouts are slow but steady, and a patient install on Wi-Fi with a fresh backup beats a rushed one. If your phone is a Razr Ultra or recent Edge, you’re near the front of the line. If it’s older, check Motorola’s support page first and expect to wait.
