Apple has opened Siri AI third-party apps support to every developer, starting with the iOS 27.3 betas released on November 3. In plain terms, apps you already use, like a food-delivery or booking app, will be able to take requests from Siri once their developers add support. You will not see much change today, because that work has only just begun.
Apple says the new abilities reach customers in a few months. Here is what changed, what works now, and what to watch for.
The quick version:
- Announced November 3, 2026, in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3 betas.
- Developers connect their apps through Apple’s App Intents framework.
- App Store submissions for these app experiences open this spring, per iPhone in Canada.
- Siri AI is not available in the EU on iPhone, and not for users under 13.
Those four points cover most of what matters if you only want the short version.
What Apple actually opened up
Until now, Siri AI worked well mainly with Apple’s own apps. The 27.3 betas let outside developers describe what their app does and what content it holds, using App Intents. Once that is done, Siri can read what is on your screen, use your personal context, and act on plain requests.
Developers can also build Siri AI “skills.” A skill chains several steps into one request, so you could ask once instead of tapping through three screens.
Siri can also pull results from the Spotlight semantic index. That includes content that does not fit older, fixed formats.
Which apps already work with Siri AI
Apple says these built-in apps are already connected:
- Calendar, Files, Finder, and Journal
- Mail, Maps, Messages, and Music
- Notes, Photos, Preview, and Reminders
- Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather
Apple’s examples include finding a coffee shop you visited last week, or archiving files you have not opened in over a year. For outside apps, the examples are checking a delivery, booking a reservation, or placing an order. Those only work once the app’s developer adopts the tools.
If you read our guide to iOS 27.2 new features, think of 27.3 as the step where Siri AI starts reaching beyond Apple’s own apps.
What you will see, and when
Do not expect a flood of new voice actions on day one. App developers need to build and ship updates first, and App Store submissions only open in spring. Until then, the beta is mostly a developer preview.
Macworld expects the final iOS 27.3 release near the end of November or early December. That is an estimate, not an Apple date.
The same beta also brings other changes:
| Change in the 27.3 beta | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Redesigned Health app returns | It appeared briefly in the 27.2 betas and is back. |
| Safari updates | Vertical tabs, Siri AI actions, and adaptive dark mode. |
| More Siri AI languages | Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Norwegian. |
| Per-app help | You can ask Siri what it can do in each Apple app. |

How developers plug into Siri AI
The work starts with App Intents. A developer lists the actions the app can perform, such as “track order” or “book table,” and the content people might ask about. Siri AI then matches a spoken or typed request to those actions.
Skills go one step further. They let a developer bundle several actions into a single flow, so a request like “reorder my usual and tell me when it arrives” can run as one task.
For you, this means support will arrive app by app. Big apps will probably move first, and smaller ones may take longer. Check the update notes after the spring submission window opens.
Who can use Siri AI, and who cannot
Your device needs to support Apple Intelligence and be set to a supported language. Siri AI works in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The four new languages above are listed as coming soon.
It is unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and unavailable to users under 13. Apple has also said the terms and usage policies for developers are still to come.
Heavy users should note one more thing. Some server-based Apple Intelligence features already have daily limits, and Apple plans paid expanded access for heavier cloud use later.
Should you install the iOS 27.3 beta?
Probably not on your main phone. Betas can have bugs, and the Siri AI app support will not do much until developers ship updates. If you are a developer, it is a good time to start with App Intents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Siri AI work with third-party apps now?
Only in the developer betas, and only for apps that add App Intents support. Public users will see it after apps update.
When will iOS 27.3 be released?
Apple has not given a date. Macworld expects late November or early December.
Is Siri AI available in the EU?
No. It is unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS.
What are App Intents?
It is Apple’s framework where developers describe their app’s actions and content so Siri can use them.
Our take
This is the move that could make Siri genuinely useful, because the apps you rely on every day finally get a way in. But the payoff depends on developers, and that means spring at the earliest. Wait for the final release, then check which of your favorite apps add support.
